Two Central Carolina Technical College Honor Society Students Named to South Carolina Academic Team
Sumter, SC (03/26/2025) — Central Carolina Technical College students Christy Pinho-Perdigao and Stephen Magee have been selected as members of the 2025 Phi Theta Kappa South Carolina All-State Academic Team. Students from all 16 technical colleges within the South Carolina Technical College System were named to the team.
Pinho-Perdigao is a student in the human services program and has been named to the president's list and dean's list. Her college and community involvement includes working as a work-study student in Counseling and Student Life Services, and participating in TRIO Student Support Services, Bethesda Food Pantry and Ruby J. Johnson Head Start. She plans to pursue a career in the human services field and contribute to society by doing meaningful work with groups that need the most support, especially the elderly.
Magee is a student in the associate degree nursing program and has also been named to the president's list and dean's list. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he earned an associate degree in aviation maintenance technology during his six years of service. His college and community activities include the South Carolina Student Nurses Association House of Delegates, the Student Nurses Association at CCTC, volunteering with Sumter Young Professionals and being an active member of his local church. Magee plans to earn a bachelor's degree in nursing while pursuing employment as a registered nurse.
Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges, conducts an annual program to honor outstanding students from technical, junior and community colleges nationwide. South Carolina's team members have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and a strong record of service to their colleges.
PTK's mission is to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and to provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programs.
