CCTC Earns Military Friendly School Designation for 14th Year
Sumter, SC (04/22/2025) — Central Carolina Technical College has earned the 2025-2026 Military Friendly School designation and the Military Spouse Friendly School award.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. The 2025-2026 Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the May and October issues of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at militaryfriendly.com.
Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council, consisting of independent leaders in higher education and military recruitment. Final ratings were determined by combining the CCTC's survey response set and government/agency public data sources within a logic-based scoring assessment. Viqtory measures CCTC's ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students, specifically student veterans.
"Military Friendly is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process," said Kayla Lopez, national director of Military Partnerships at Military Friendly. "Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages institutions to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools that achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard."
The Military Friendly Schools list sets the standard for higher education institutions to provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses. This prestigious list provides a comprehensive guide for veterans and their families using data sources from federal agencies and proprietary survey information from participating organizations.
Central Carolina is proud to be recognized as a Military Friendly School for the 14th consecutive year, as well as a recipient of the Military Spouse Friendly School designation," said Lisa Bracken, Vice President for Student Affairs. "We remain deeply committed to supporting our military-affiliated students as they navigate the unique challenges of balancing education with the demands of military service and family life. Through initiatives such as an expedited admissions process, comprehensive financial aid opportunities, a dedicated VA certifying official, our Veterans Resource Center, and the Veterans Upward Bound program, we aim to provide a welcoming, supportive, and accessible college experience. We are honored to serve our active-duty service members, veterans, and their families, and we hope they take pride in the collaborative and empowering community we've built together."
To allow for greater academic flexibility for unpredictable military schedules, classes are offered in a variety of formats. Other resources include:
- A Veterans' Affairs representative on the main campus in Sumter
- A Veterans Resource Center that offers a variety of academic and career services in an environment where active duty, dependents and veteran students can socialize with fellow military students
- A Veterans Upward Bound program that provides assistance to veterans transitioning into higher education
