Local Golfers Tee Off for a Cause at 14th Annual CCTC Foundation Golf Tournament

Sumter, SC (10/16/2024) — On Friday, October 4, golfers from across South Carolina gathered at Beech Creek Golf Course for the 14th annual Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) Foundation Golf Tournament. The event was filled with camaraderie, competition and a shared commitment to supporting the future of CCTC.

We are proud to announce that this year's tournament raised over $34,000, thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors and volunteers. These funds will directly support crucial initiatives, including student scholarships and professional development for CCTC faculty and staff. Over the past 14 years, this beloved event has generated approximately $400,000, creating lasting benefits for the college and its community.

"Every year, we are humbled by the outpouring of support we receive at our golf tournament," said Misty Hatfield, CCTC Vice President for Institutional Advancement. "We are deeply grateful to our dedicated staff, board members, volunteers and, of course, our local businesses and community members whose loyalty continues to make this event a success."

In 2023, the tournament's proceeds enabled 20 CCTC students to receive $700 scholarships each, totaling $14,000 in support of their educational goals.

A highlight of this year's event was a milestone achievement: for the first time in tournament history, a player hit a hole-in-one on the designated prize hole, sponsored by Jones Chevrolet. Badge Baker's remarkable 165-yard shot earned him a brand-new Chevrolet Trax SUV, adding extra excitement to the day.

The tournament followed a four-person captain's choice format, with participants enjoying breakfast, lunch, and the chance to compete in various challenges. Special awards included the Hole-in-One Grand Prize, Longest Drive Challenge, Closest to the Pin competition, along with cash prizes and trophies for the top teams.

Looking forward, the CCTC Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to make a lasting impact in the communities we serve. The success of this year's tournament reinforces the power of collaboration, goodwill and the unwavering commitment of CCTC supporters who continue to enhance opportunities for students and staff.
