Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Hosts Tenth Annual Golf Tournament

by Cathy Frye

Sumter, SC (09/02/2020) — Golfers in South Carolina are invited to play an enjoyable round of golf at one of the region's spectacular golf courses while also helping to raise funds for local college students.

The 10th Annual Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser will take place on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Beech Creek Golf Course in Sumter. The format for the tournament is a four person captain's choice with registration at 9:30 a.m. and a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Entry fee for players is $75 and includes breakfast, lunch, beverages, 18 holes of golf, cart, player gift and awards. Awards include a Hole-In-One Grand Prize, Longest Drive Challenge and Closest to the Pin competition, in addition to cash prizes and trophies for the winning teams. Mulligans will be available for purchase at registration for $10.

Most importantly, golfers who participate in the CCTC Foundation tournament are automatically supporting local higher education and help contribute to the skilled workforce in our area including registered nurses, pharmacy technicians, welders, HVAC technicians, mechatronics specialists, emergency medical technicians and more.

More than 130 golfers participated in the 2019 Tournament held October 4 at Beech Creek Golf Course. The generous support of 82 sponsors helped raise money for projects that support CCTC including student scholarships, professional development for faculty and staff and funding for instructional equipment and facilities. Over the past nine years, the CCTC Foundation Golf Tournament has raised approximately $307,000 and provided scholarships for nearly 200 students.

CCTC Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and External Relations Misty Hatfield says, "This is a great event for the college, the foundation and our students. COVID-19 has had a heavy impact on just about everyone and our students are no exception. We see the needs that exist and the passion students have to attend college and provide a better future for themselves and our communities."

Golfers can register for the event by going online to cctech.edu-foundation-foundation events or by calling (803) 778-6641 or email development@cctech.edu. Remaining foursomes priced at $300 as well as tournament sponsorships are available.

The CCTC Foundation will practice social distancing measures at the 2020 tournament. There will not be an official awards ceremony to prevent the gathering of too many people following the tournament. Players will need to bring a mask for registration and when indoors.

The CCTC Foundation Golf Tournament is made possible through the gracious donations of our many sponsors and volunteers from the college, the community and the Foundation Board of Trustees. This year's tournament is presented by Herald Office Solutions.

The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation, Inc. is governed by a Board of Trustees separate from the Area Commission for Central Carolina Technical College and is dedicated to expanding the goals and mission of the college. The CCTC Foundation is operated exclusively for charitable education purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
