Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Board Appoints New Chair, Welcomes New Members

Sumter, SC (12/01/2021) — The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation, Inc. recently named three new members to its governing board and elected a new board chair going into the 2022 year.

The new members include local business leaders Woody Beasley, Cary Coker and Dave Self.

Beasley, of Bishopville, is a graduate of Robert E. Lee School where he later served on the Board for four years. He is the owner of BayPark Trucking in Lee County. Beasley is family-oriented and enjoys sharing his love of the trucking industry with others.

Coker, of Sumter, is a graduate of Francis Marion University. He is the incoming chairman for the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce and previously served as the chairman for the American Heart Association. Coker is the President of Nu-Idea School Supply Company in Sumter.

Self, of Sumter, is a graduate of the Community College of the Air Force and Wayland Baptist University. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Self joined the team at Sumter Utilities Inc. as the Director of Human Resources and Strategic Initiatives.

The Board of Trustees elected Meritor Inc. Plant Manager, Robert Edwards, as the new board chair, who replaces Scott Brown. Roy Fakoury of Camden will replace Terry Hancock as treasurer. Rev. George Windley Jr. of Sumter was also elected as a new member of the executive committee. Other executive committee members include Meree McAllister, Ruby Gibbs, vice-chair, and Bruce Snipes, secretary.

The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation board of trustees is comprised of community leaders from the college's service area of Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter counties. The mission of the foundation is to establish, grow and manage resources that serve as a catalyst to create educational opportunities and enhance academic excellence within the college's service area.

Established in 1977, the foundation provides support to the college to enhance its efforts to prepare students to enter the job market and achieve their professional goals. Over the 44 year history, the foundation has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships to more than 3,500 students.

The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation, Inc. is governed by a Board of Trustees separate from the Area Commission for Central Carolina Technical College and is dedicated to expanding the goals and mission of the college. The CCTC Foundation is operated exclusively for charitable education purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. Learn more: cctech.edu
