$10,000 Gift from Duke Energy to Assist Kershaw and Lee County Students
Sumter, SC (02/14/2022) — Thanks to a $10,000 donation from Duke Energy, Central Carolina Technical College will be able to provide funds for the Kershaw County mechatronics program and Lee County dual enrolled students.
The check was presented by Quinetta Buterbaugh, district manager of government and community relations at Duke Energy, to CCTC President Dr. Kevin Pollock.
"We are grateful for the generous donation and partnership with Duke Energy," Dr. Pollock said. "We look forward to determining how best to utilize the funds and maximize the benefit to our students."
"At Duke Energy, we make it a priority to support workforce development and education initiatives in our communities," Buterbaugh said. "This grant will serve those who are pursuing a brighter future and Duke Energy is proud to assist Central Carolina Technical College and its mission."
The money will benefit students in the mechatronics program in Kershaw County. Mechatronics is a branch of engineering that focuses on designing, manufacturing and maintaining products that have both mechanical and electronic components. In Lee County, the money will support dual enrolled students, or those taking college classes while in high school.
