Central Carolina Technical College's Healthcare Simulation Center Earns National Accreditation
Sumter, SC (01/27/2026) — Central Carolina Technical College's Healthcare Simulation Center has earned accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, recognizing the center's commitment to high-quality simulation-based education and excellence in healthcare training.
The Healthcare Simulation Center, known as the Titan Simulation Center, has been accredited in the area of Teaching and Education, with accreditation effective from Nov. 10, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2030.
CCTC is the only technical college in South Carolina to hold SSH accreditation for a simulation center.
"SSH accreditation assures our clinical partners, students and community that our simulation education program meets national standards of excellence and best practice," said Dr. Eugene Geddings, dean of nursing and health sciences at Central Carolina Technical College. "It strengthens our health sciences programs and reinforces CCTC's role as a trusted educator of the healthcare workforce in our region."
The Healthcare Simulation Center provides immersive, hands-on learning experiences through advanced simulation technology, evidence-based scenario design and structured debriefing. The center supports Central Carolina Technical College's Associate Degree in Nursing, Practical Nursing and Transition Nursing programs, helping students develop clinical judgment, teamwork and patient-centered care skills in a safe, controlled environment.
The center is supported by a highly credentialed team of nationally certified simulation professionals, including multiple Certified Healthcare Simulation Educators, ensuring students learn in an environment guided by industry best practices. Over the past two years, the Healthcare Simulation Center has supported nearly 10,000 learner contact hours, offering extensive opportunities for hands-on clinical practice.
Simulation-based learning plays a critical role in preparing students to enter the healthcare workforce with confidence, competence and professionalism. The Healthcare Simulation Center operates under clearly defined ethical and professional standards that emphasize integrity, transparency, mutual respect and psychological safety, reinforcing a learning environment that supports student success and accountability.
Located at Central Carolina Technical College's Health Sciences Center in downtown Sumter, the Healthcare Simulation Center is housed at 133 S. Main St. The facility serves as a vital training resource by bridging classroom instruction and real-world clinical experiences through realistic, patient-care simulations.
