Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Board Welcomes Three New Members
Sumter, SC (06/10/2024) — The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation, Inc. recently named three new members representing Kershaw County to its governing board.
The new members include John D. Kornegay, III, Harvey Galloway and Billy Smith.
A Camden native, Kornegay is an attorney at Todd & Johnson, LLP, where he focuses his practice on estate planning, estate and trust administration and business entity formation.
Kornegay holds a bachelor's degree in experimental psychology and a master's degree in human resources, both from the University of South Carolina. He also graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
He has served as a vestryman at Grace Episcopal Church in Camden, been a member of the Quaker Cemetery Association and served on the board of Kershaw County Habitat for Humanity. Previously, he was a member of the Kershaw County Library Board of Trustees, where he held positions as chairman and secretary.
Harvey Galloway concluded his career in 2017 at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BCBSSC) following a 47-year tenure. He held roles in senior management overseeing areas such as Medicare, Medicaid, and TriCare. He assumed the positions of President and Chief Operating Officer at BCBSSC subsidiaries including Companion HealthCare, Companion Benefits Alternatives, First Sun EAP and Companion Technologies. Galloway's contributions extended to his role as the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the BCBSSC Foundation.
Galloway earned his bachelor's degree from Presbyterian College and later pursued his master's degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Galloway was awarded an honorary Ph.D in Public Service from Charleston Southern University.
Galloway lives in Camden and currently serves on the following boards and committees: BCBSSC Foundation, Kershaw County Community Medical Clinic, South Carolina Philharmonic Advisory Board, SC Thrive Advisory Board, Camden Historical Culture District Committee, 250 Year Revolutionary War Committee and is an Elder Emeritus with Northeast Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina.
Longtime Kershaw County resident Billy Smith holds a bachelor's degree from The Citadel and a master's degree in education from Winthrop University. He is the Chief Operations Officer with the Kershaw County School District. He currently serves on the Boys and Girls Club of Kershaw County and the Kershaw County Community Medical Clinic boards and is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Smith is a former head trustee at St. John's United Methodist Church, member of the Southern Associations of College and Schools State Board and prior member of the Santee Wateree Transit Authority Board.
The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation board of trustees is comprised of community leaders from the college's service area of Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter counties. The mission of the foundation is to establish, grow and manage resources that serve as a catalyst to create educational opportunities and enhance academic excellence within the college's service area.
Established in 1977, the foundation provides support to the college to enhance its efforts to prepare students to enter the job market and achieve their professional goals. Over the 47-year history, the CCTC Foundation has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships to more than 3,500 students.
The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation, Inc. is governed by a Board of Trustees separate from the Area Commission for Central Carolina Technical College and is dedicated to expanding the goals and mission of the college.
