Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Board Welcomes Five New Members

Sumter, SC (11/11/2025) — The Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of five new members to its Board of Trustees: Sharmane Anderson, Marquez Cain, Brenda Gardner, Darlene Sparks and Breanna Wise. Each brings valuable leadership experience and a shared commitment to advancing educational opportunities across the region.

Sharmane Anderson serves as the deputy county administrator for Clarendon County. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Francis Marion University, a master's degree in youth development and leadership from Clemson University and is a Charleston School of Law graduate. Anderson's professional background includes roles with Clarendon Behavioral Health, the Food and Drug Administration and Voter Registration. She is an active community leader, serving on the boards of the United Way of Sumter, the Duke Energy Advisory Board and the National Association of Counties. She also serves as vice chair of the Healthy Counties Advisory Board Steering Committee and is involved in the Rural Action Caucus. In addition, she founded a nonprofit organization that provides a reading academy and college preparation resources for students. Anderson has a daughter in college.

Marquez Cain is the production supervisor at Coca-Cola Consolidated in Lee County, where he has served for 21 years. A 2000 graduate of Central Carolina Technical College's Criminal Justice program, Cain is a Bishopville native and the current president of the Lee County Chamber Board of Directors. He is active in his church and community and enjoys watching sports. He and his wife have three children.

Brenda Gardner serves as regional workforce advisor for the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, connecting educators, employers and community partners to strengthen workforce pipelines. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Troy University and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of South Carolina. Gardner is active on numerous advisory boards and councils, including the Sumter Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Committee, the Rural Leadership Institute of Lee County, and the Sumter Career and Technology Center Cybersecurity Advisory Council, where she serves as chair. A passionate advocate for lifelong learning, Gardner is also a certified master trainer in Microburst Employability Skills and co-founder of The Friends & Fiction Official Book Club with Brenda and Lisa, a 40,000-member virtual book community.

Darlene Sparks is the investor and stakeholder relations manager with Sumter Economic Development, where she builds relationships that support the region's economic growth and workforce initiatives. Sparks holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Charleston Southern University and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Northcentral University. She is active with the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce's See Her Empowered (SHE) program, the Sumter Pregnancy Center Board and the Sumter Junior Welfare League. A dedicated community mentor, she has served as a mentor at Liberty STEAM Charter School for the past three years. She and her husband have four children.

Breanna Wise serves as president and CEO of the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, where she leads initiatives that strengthen economic development, business growth and community collaboration. A graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organizational Management, Wise holds a Bachelor of Arts in organizational leadership and is actively pursuing her Certified Association Executive credential. She is involved with Team Sumter, the eSTEAM Festival Planning Board and the Sumter Iris Festival Commission, and serves as an honorary commander with the 77th Fighter Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base. Wise is passionate about connecting people, resources and opportunities to help the community thrive. She and her husband have three children.

The CCTC Foundation Board of Trustees provides leadership and oversight for the Foundation's mission to support Central Carolina Technical College through scholarships, program enhancements and special initiatives that promote student success.
