CCTC Foundation Celebrates 10th Successful Golf Tournament
Sumter, SC (10/12/2020) — More than 130 golfers participated in the tenth annual Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Golf Tournament held Friday, October 2 at Beech Creek Golf Course.
The generous support of more than 60 sponsors helped raise $24,000 for projects that support CCTC including student scholarships, professional development for faculty and staff and funding for instructional equipment and facilities. Over the past ten years the CCTC Foundation Golf Tournament has raised approximately $337,000.
"Each year, we are amazed at the incredible generosity and support displayed at our golf tournament, but the success of this year's event in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic is truly incredible," said CCTC Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and External Relations Misty Hatfield. "We are so appreciative of the hard work of our dedicated staff members and volunteers, which allowed the tournament to be executed safely this year, and for the ongoing loyalty of our local business sponsors, community members and CCTC Foundation board members, even in these unprecedented times."
Proceeds from the 2019 golf tournament made it possible for 20 CCTC students to receive a $700 scholarship each for a total of $14,000.
The format for the tournament was a four person captain's choice with breakfast and lunch provided. Awards included a Hole-In-One Grand Prize, Longest Drive Challenge and Closest to the Pin competition, in addition to cash prizes and trophies for the winning teams. Special thanks to the 2020 Presenting Sponsor, Herald Office Solutions, and all other Major, Contributing, Tee and other sponsors.
Special precautions were taken this year to ensure player and volunteer safety from COVID-19. The CCTC Foundation is immensely grateful to all who played, sponsored and volunteered to make this event a success.
