CCTC Earns Military Friendly School Designation for 13th Year

Sumter, SC (05/23/2024) — Central Carolina Technical College has earned the 2024-2025 Military Friendly School designation and the Military Spouse Friendly School award.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2024-2025 survey, with 537 earning special awards for going above the standard. The 2024-2025 Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the May and October issues of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at militaryfriendly.com.

Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council, consisting of independent leaders in higher education and military recruitment. Final ratings were determined by combining the CCTC's survey response set and government/agency public data sources within a logic-based scoring assessment. Viqtory measures CCTC's ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students, specifically student veterans.

"Military Friendly is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process," said Kayla Lopez, national director of Military Partnerships at Military Friendly. "Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages institutions to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools that achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard."

The Military Friendly Schools list sets the standard for higher education institutions to provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses. This prestigious list provides a comprehensive guide for veterans and their families using data sources from federal agencies and proprietary survey information from participating organizations.

"Central Carolina is honored to be designated as a Military Friendly School for the 13th consecutive year and to receive the Military Spouse Friendly School award for the first time," said Lisa Bracken, vice president of Student Affairs. "We are committed to helping our military-affiliated students balance their pursuit of education along with the demands of military careers and lifestyles. Through resources like a streamlined admissions process, ample financial aid options, a VA certifying official, a Veterans Resource Center and a Veterans Upward Bound program, we strive to make college processes as stress-free and supportive as possible for our military members. We are proud of our active-duty military members, dependents and veterans and hope they are proud of the college community we have created for them."

To allow for greater academic flexibility for unpredictable military schedules, classes are offered in a variety of formats. Other resources include:
